Media FAQ

What is the World Technology Center?

The World Technology Center is a long-term conceptual infrastructure initiative exploring the future of global science, technology, and public engagement. The project envisions a large-scale development centered around research, education, and collaboration.

What stage is the project currently at?

The project is currently in the concept development and feasibility exploration phase, with ongoing work in design refinement, technical studies, and strategic planning.

Has the project been approved or funded?

No formal planning approvals or funding have been finalized at this stage. The project remains in early development.

Where is the project proposed to be built?

Chicago is currently the primary proposed location. Alternative locations have been considered as part of long-term contingency planning.

Is this a reconstruction of the original Twin Towers?

While the design draws inspiration from the original World Trade Center’s silhouette, the World Technology Center is a distinct, modern development with updated structural systems, safety features, and purpose.

Why does the design resemble the Twin Towers?

The design references the original towers as part of a broader architectural dialogue around legacy, symbolism, and continuity — while introducing modern engineering and new functional purpose.

Is the project technically feasible?

The project is being developed within the framework of modern engineering practices, materials, and safety standards. Detailed feasibility assessments are part of the ongoing development process.

What are the intended benefits of the project?

The project aims to:

  • Promote global collaboration in STEM fields

  • Create educational and research opportunities for students and industry professionals

  • Drive economic growth and R&D innovation

  • Serve as a public-facing hub for science and technology

Early media reports in March 2026 stated that the WTC is a Data Center. Is this true?

No. The World Technology Center from its very beginning is designed to be a hub for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). It would be equipped with a variety of laboratories, workshops, offices and education teaching space and adorned with diverse public amenities (nature, libraries and a mall). While the proposed campus would indeed have data servers and computing labs, they are only a small fraction of the overall scope of facilities.

We suspect that this misinterpretation/misinformation stemmed from a third party social media misunderstanding of the word science with 'science data' and connected it with 'data center'.

Who is leading the project?

The project is led by Raphael J. Chryslar, supported by collaborators across engineering, architecture, academia, and media.

How can the public follow official updates?

Official updates are published exclusively via:

  • The World Technology Center website

How should media interpret third-party content about the project?

As the project is gaining public attention, third-party interpretations may vary. Media and the public are encouraged to reference official sources for accurate and up-to-date information.
